Ferrous metals (steel, iron, stainless, etc.) require substantially lower blade speeds to produce viable cuts without damaging the blade and pulleys. Meanwhile, wood, foam, plastics, and other materials cut much better with higher blade speeds as they are much less harsh on the blade. The 18|CX allows you to easily control the blade speed to ensure optimum performance across all these material types! The 18|CX gives you ultimate versatility unlike a traditional Resaw that has a fixed blade speed that is typically set strictly for wood, plastics, and composites.
High/Low System - The mechanical High/Low System provides a mechanical High and Low range to keep the bandsaw in the correct torque range for the blade speed and materials being cut. The high/low system should be set first and then the final speed should be set by turning the speed control level.
Speed Control Lever - The speed control lever can be used to change the speed on the fly if needed, meaning that you can increase or decrease speed during the cut to optimize the performance of the blade in the specific material being cut. It is located for easy access on the rear panel of the lower unit
